Vijaykrishna Dhanasekaran, PhD
Vijay is an Assistant Professor in the Program of Emerging Infectious Diseases at Duke-NUS Medical School Singapore. He received his PhD at The University of Hong Kong and his undergraduate degree at University of Madras. His research interest lies in the area of ecology and evolution of infectious diseases, ranging from animal and clinical disease surveillance, virus genomics and experimental evolution. In recent years, he has focused on the dynamics of infectious diseases. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed publications with a particular focus on influenza, including on the origins and spread of avian, swine and human influenza viruses. His research has been supported by the NIAID Centers of Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance, Singapore Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and other international grants.
